- Staunchly protestant major landowner who brought his old tutor John Keble to Hursley, making it a hub of the 19th century Anglican revival.
- Father of Arthur Malcolm Heathcote after whom the Heathcote Players were named.

Sir William Heathcote, 5th Baronet of Hursley, was MP for Hampshire, Hampshire North and Oxford University, High Sheriff of Hampshire, Privy Councillor.

Father of Compton resident Arthur Heathcote after whom the Heathcote Players were named.
