Shawford Pantos 1997 onwards
Parish Hall Centenary 1996/7
The centenary of the Shawford Parish Hall gave the village a wonderful excuse for two weeks of celebrations in December 1996 and January 1997.
One of the many highlights of the celebrations was the revival of the legendary Shawford Pantomimes.
The new version of “The Beanstalks” claimed to reveal the real story behind the building of the M3.
It was to be the first in a series of biennial pantomimes written by Simon Theobalds, each giving a contemporary twist to a traditional panto.
These pantos were usually reviewed in special pull-out supplements in the Parish Magazine, which we reproduce below.
